Who we are

SmartEdge is operated by Smart Edge International Ltd ("SmartEdge", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (registered office: 124-128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX). SmartEdge provides a private tutoring scheduling, progress-tracking and billing platform used by our tutors, the students we teach, and their parents/guardians. Our website is smartedgestudy.com.

Information we collect

Because SmartEdge is a private, invite-only platform (accounts are created by our staff, not through public sign-up), the information we hold is limited to what's needed to run tutoring sessions and billing for our own students and tutors:

• Student and parent details: student name, academic level/exam board, parent or guardian name, email address, and phone number.
• Tutor details: name, email address, and the subjects/levels they teach.
• Scheduling and session records: class times, subjects, attendance, session status (completed, cancelled, rescheduled), and any notes tutors or staff add about a session.
• Billing records: the number of sessions paid for, amounts invoiced and paid, and payment dates. We do not process card payments in the app and do not collect or store card numbers, bank account numbers, or other payment credentials — payments are arranged and settled directly between parents and SmartEdge outside the app (for example by bank transfer), and we simply keep a record of what was invoiced and received.
• Account access: a login access code or password used to sign in, and basic technical data such as login timestamps needed to keep accounts secure.

We do not run advertising, and the app does not contain any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

How we use this information

• To schedule, run, and keep accurate records of tutoring sessions.
• To calculate and communicate what's due for payment, and to send invoices and payment reminders.
• To pay tutors correctly for the sessions they deliver.
• To let parents and students see upcoming sessions, progress, and payment status through their own login.
• To send essential account and service communications by email (for example, a welcome email when an account is created, or a payment reminder).

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use a small number of service providers strictly to operate the platform on our behalf:

• Supabase — our database host, which stores the records described above.
• Render — our application hosting provider.
• An email delivery provider, used only to send the account and payment emails described above.

These providers process data only as needed to provide their hosting/delivery service to us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Data retention

We keep student, parent, and tutor records for as long as the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping (for example, tax and payment records). Accounts can be archived by our staff when a student or tutor stops using SmartEdge. If you'd like your data deleted sooner, contact us using the details below and we'll action it, subject to any legal record-keeping requirements.

Your rights

If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK/EU data protection law to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

Children's data

Because SmartEdge is a tutoring service, we hold records about students who may be under 18. Student accounts and records are set up and managed by a parent/guardian or by our staff on a family's behalf — we do not collect data directly from children through open sign-up.

Security

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls to protect the data we hold. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
